ELLKA is an independent Melbourne handbag label creating handcrafted leather pieces from premium Italian leather.

Founded by designer and artisan Helen Karamitros, ELLKA grew from a love of handbags, considered design and the process of turning an idea into something tangible. Each piece begins with design and is developed with attention to proportion, form, function and the way it feels to carry.

ELLKA collections are created in small quantities, with pieces crafted thoughtfully rather than produced for mass consumption. Where possible, pieces are made in response to orders, allowing each one to be created with time and care.

Our designs are distinctive yet considered, bringing together sculptural form, practical function and the character of beautiful leather. We are drawn to shapes that feel individual and unexpected while remaining timeless enough to become part of everyday life.

We also take care to use materials thoughtfully throughout the making process. Smaller leather cuts can be incorporated into accessories and smaller pieces, helping us make better use of the material we work with and reduce unnecessary waste.
