“I get so excited when I see a completed design which was once a fleeting idea captured in a sketch.”

ELLKA is designed and crafted by Helen, the designer and artisan behind the label.

With a background in fashion design and pattern making, Helen brings a hands-on approach to every ELLKA piece, from the first idea and sketch through to construction and finishing.

The process begins with an idea. A shape is explored, refined and developed until the design feels both distinctive and purposeful. From there, the pattern is created and the piece takes form through cutting, construction and careful finishing.

There is something special about seeing a design move from a fleeting idea on paper into something real that can be held, carried and eventually become part of someone’s life.

Helen’s approach is intentionally personal. ELLKA is not created on a mass-production model. Each piece is given the time and attention its construction requires, with small-scale production allowing the focus to remain on design, materials and craftsmanship.

For Helen, handbags have always been about more than their function. They are objects of design, expression and everyday companionship, created to be lived with and made your own.
